Vagamon was discovered by the British who found the place ideal for tea plantations and they were followed by Christian missionaries who built their abode of service at Kurisumala in Vagamon. National Geographic Traveler has listed Vagamon on their directory of the 50 most attractive places to visit in India.
Still untouched by commercialisation, this sleepy town with its scenic valleys, beautiful green meadows, enchanting pine forests, mists, fogs, tea estates, waterfalls combined with the overall greenery is really striking. The landscape is mostly hilly bald with green meadows. Vagamon is also home to a large variety of flowers and orchids. Cuddled up within three striking hills - Murugen, Thangal and Kurisumala they represent the chief religions in kerala ie Hindu, Muslim and Christian, which in turn portrays the cultural harmony in the area. Vagamon has amenities for boating, trekking, paragliding, mountaineering and rock climbing.
The Valley is situated in Vattapathal, 3.5 kms from Vagamon Town. A beautifully designed cottage with 2 bath attached bedrooms, hall, kitchen, extra bathroom and work area constitutes the current accomodation. Ideal for a family of 6 to 7 people. Homely food can be prepared at the cottage with self grown organic items.
